Chorus Makes Spring Concert Donation to Home Port Alliance

ChildrenSong of New Jersey held their annual Spring Concert, titled Sail Away!, at Haddonfield United Methodist Church on June 9, 2001.

The highlight of the program was the premiere of Twilight at Sea, a piece commissioned by ChildrenSong in honor of the battleship USS New Jersey and all who served aboard her. The piece was composed by Dean Rishel, with lyrics by chorister Emily Westfield, age 10.

The chorus was pleased to make a donation of $250 to the Home Port Alliance, the organization responsible for converting the “Big J” to a floating museum. The donation was presented by Robin Potter (chorus president), Alexandra Gould (concert choir), and Representative Rob Andrews (D, NJ). The donation was accepted by Admiral Siegentheler of the Home Port Alliance. Andrews also served as emcee for the performance.
