New Assistant Director Joins ChildrenSongAugust 17, 2003
Mr. Michael Trotta, a resident of Oaklyn, recently joined ChildrenSong as its Assistant Director. In that position, he will be responsible for directing ChildrenSong's Prelude and Allegro Choirs, as well as the chorus' new Changed Voices Ensemble for young men and women. Mr. Trotta holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music from Rowan University, majoring in Voice and Music Education. He has taught individual and choral singing, in public, private, and parochial settings, to students ranging in age from 3 to 73 years old. In 2001, Mr. Trotta made his international solo debut with the Masterworks Chorale on their Goodwill Tour to Italy. He has also enjoyed performances as a choral singer at Carnegie Hall (New York), The Kimmel Center (Philadelphia), St. Peter's Basilica (Rome), in addition to countless other solo and choral performances. He has written numerous grants to further music and music education in the State of New Jersey. In 2003, he received the prestigious Hipp Foundation Award for Excellence in Education. He currently teaches at Clearview Regional Middle School directing the 7th, 8th, and 9th grade choirs. He also serves on the American Choral Director's Association's State Board in New Jersey. He is currently pursuing graduate study at Westminster Choir College. |
