ChildrenSong of New Jersey, full of rising star young singers from the South Jersey region, has been invited to sing in Carnegie Hall on December 2nd as part of Tim Janis’ The American Christmas Carol concert to benefit the St. Jude’s Foundation. Tim Janis is a world-renowned musician and composer with over one million albums sold, five PBS specials, and ten Billboard charting CDs to his credit. He’s worked with artists such as Billy Joel and the New York Philharmonic Orchestra.

ChildrenSong of New Jersey, conducted by Polly Murray, is in its 12th season and rehearses at Haddonfield Middle School on Monday evenings. With nearly 100 participants from Camden, Burlington, and Gloucester counties, the choir trains young singers aged 8-17 in a three-tiered choir program that emphasizes musicianship, vocal skill building, and high-level performance experiences. The most advanced singers will travel to Carnegie Hall on December 2nd to sing selections conducted by Tim Janis and by their own director Polly Murray. The choir is slated to sing a moving arrangement of Do You Hear What I Hear with Caroline Jones, a rising star singer/songwriter from Greenwich, Connecticut, who performs frequently in New York City. ChildrenSong has already recorded music professionally with Caroline Jones that will be used in the annual Paul Tudor Jones holiday light show in Greenwich, Connecticut. The choir will also perform an exciting arrangement of Jingle Bells with Darlene Love, who was recently inducted into the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. On their own, ChildrenSong will perform Carol of the Bells, a seasonal favorite.

ChildrenSong can be seen locally on Sunday, December 4th, at the First Presbyterian Church in Haddonfield in their concert Blessings and Yuletide. Program highlights include the singing of a treble version of Handel’s masterwork The Messiah, Once in Royal David’s City, and Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day. The concert will also feature an appearance by Caroline Jones, who will perform her arrangements of Do You Hear What I Hear and The Little Drummer Boy with ChildrenSong singers. On December 16th, ChildrenSong singers will travel to Greenwich, Connecticut, to see the spectacular light show and perform another concert with Caroline Jones at the family’s mansion.
