Preparing to Audition for ChildrenSong
The following is a list of things your child may be asked to sing in the audition. Try to have your child prepare as much as possible prior to the audition. There are MP3 files of the songs and scales that your child will need to learn.
Most often, the child’s music teacher can assist in the requirements. When that is not possible, just do the best you can and the ChildrenSong Director will help your child be successful.
The audition is often a learning experience. Your child will likely leave the audition having learned something new about the voice or about reading music. Not every child will be completely prepared or pass each requirement. It is possible to be accepted into a choir level and not pass certain requirements.
Your child’s entrance into ChildrenSong will depend on the following:
- Level of musicianship
- Potential
- Willingness to learn and follow direction, and
- Love of singing
Extra information is available about auditioning for each choir:
- Prelude Choir Auditions (ages 8-11) - Beginning Level
- Allegro Choir Auditions (ages 10-13) - Intermediate Level
- Concert Choir Auditions (ages 12-18) - Advanced Level
Good luck!
